Virtos is a world-class software house dedicated exclusively to the development and commercialization of S.O.S Backup. Easy to use, the program ensures for companies both big and small a secure backup system.
History
Since Virtos' foundation, in 1999, to 2009, the company has sold more than 14,000 software licenses to almost 6,000 different clients. Virtos has released nine products, about one per year, making available over 60 different versions.
S.O.S Backup Standard: released in March of 2000 and since discontinued, this product created automatic backups on drives recognized by Windows, providing an easy and friendly interface;
S.O.S Backup Server: released in 2001, Server made backups on magnetic tapes;
S.O.S Backup StandardNet: released in 2003, StandardNet introduced backups through FTP and e-mail management to the S.O.S Backup product line;
S.O.S Backup Database: released in 2004, Database creates online database backups of Oracle, SQL Server, Exchange Server, Sybase, Interbase, Firebird, and Lotus Notes;
S.O.S Backup Enterprise: released in 2005, Enterprise performs backups on libraries and tape autoloaders;
S.O.S Backup DR: released in 2006, DR provides server disaster recovery: the fast and complete restoration of the operating system, its installed applications, and its stored server data;
S.O.S Backup Desktop: released in 2009, Desktop aims to reach a new audience: domestic users and small businesses. Desktop creates replicas of hard drives elsewhere that can be restored in case of an emergency.
S.O.S Backup EasyDB: released in 2010, provides online database backups for MySQL and PostgreSQL in a more accessible product for those who do not use magnetic tapes.
Location
Virtos recently expanded its horizons by opening a branch in Portugal, establishing itself in the European market. The Portuguese office was inaugurated in 2007 in Parkurbis, an initiative supported by the city of Covilhã.
Partnerships and Investments
Recognition of the quality of Virtos’ products has brought it partnerships and investments.
S.O.S Backup line was certified by storage hardware manufacturers such as Sony and Tandberg Data.

In January of 2009, Virtos entered a parnership with Intel.
